How Shortless compares
There are a handful of Safari extensions that hide YouTube Shorts on iPhone and iPad. Here they all are, ours included, with what each one costs and what it actually removes.
Prices checked on the US App Store on 9 August 2026 and subject to change. This is our own comparison, written by the people who make Shortless, so weigh it accordingly.
Comparison table
Swipe the table sideways to see what each app removes.
| App | Price | What it removes |
|---|---|---|
| Shortless this one | $0.99 | Shorts across all five surfaces, hidden before they paint, with independent per-surface toggles and counters for everything it blocks |
| No Shorts: Blocker for YouTube | $2.99 | Shorts plus the home feed, recommendations, and comments |
| Shorts Blocker for YouTube | $1.99 | Shorts across the feed, search, channels, related videos, and the tab |
| BlockYT for Safari | $2.99 | General YouTube declutter: recommendations, Shorts, and comments |
| Block YT Shorts for Safari | $2.99 | Shorts in the feed and recommendations |
All five are Safari Web Extensions, so they share one constraint: they work on youtube.com in Safari and cannot change YouTube’s native app.
What sets Shortless apart
The lowest price here
$0.99 once, against $1.99 to $2.99 for the other paid options. No subscription, no in-app purchases, no upsell later.
Shorts never paint
Hiding is CSS applied before the page renders, not JavaScript that cleans up afterwards. No flash of Shorts, no layout jump, and it holds up on a slow connection.
Five toggles, not one switch
Home shelf, search, channel pages, the Shorts tab, and the watch sidebar move independently. Keep the tab, lose the shelves, or any other combination.
It counts what it saved you
Lifetime, daily, and streak counters for Shorts that never reached you. No other app in the table above advertises a counter.
A repair path that runs
YouTube reshuffles its markup constantly. The opt-in, element-names-only report is how a gap gets spotted and patched in the next update, instead of quietly rotting.
Narrow on purpose
Shortless removes Shorts and leaves the rest of YouTube exactly as it was. Nothing leaves your device unless you choose to send a report.
Where Shortless stops
honesty cornerFour things it deliberately won’t do.
It does not change YouTube’s native app.
No Safari extension can, ours included. There is no setting in YouTube’s own app to switch Shorts off. Shortless works on youtube.com in Safari, which on iPhone and iPad is a genuinely good way to watch.
Safari only.
It has no effect in Chrome or Firefox on iOS.
Shorts only.
If you want comments, recommendations, or the whole home feed gone as well, that is outside what Shortless sets out to do.
It costs $0.99.
Small, but not nothing.
